Donovan: Big Douche or Biggest Douche?

Discuss.

This story was just too good to pass up even though the FireBilly.com staff is on it’s unannounced summer vacation of indeterminate length. What’s that Jai Lucas? You would like to de-commit? Uhm let me think. Hell no.

What a cocksucker…lead UF on in the whole contract extension that you “were anxious to sign” and get big name recruits to come there and then leave them hanging, for more money??? How much more do you want, UF was gonna make you the highest paid college coach ever! Now you put UF in a hell of a situation in finding a replacement… not that I give a shit!
I’m so glad he didn’t take this job, cuz we got the best MAN for the job…Billy Clyde all the way! Either way, UF is gonna return to assume the position as our bitch in the SEC! Jai Lucas…have fun with Tom Crene or Mark Few…HAHAHAHAHA nice choice dumbass!

Can Jai Lucas get out of his LOI. I think that he should be able too. I beleive that if a coach does this to his players after the recruiting stage then they should be able to leave with no penalty. I am not saying that I want him at UK by I beleive that we would take him

  3. 3 Not Rob Bromley

I agree with that. Billy Clyde would probably welcome him with open arms.

  4. 4 The Fake Gimel Martinez

Jai can only get out of his LOI if the school releases him from this, a la Legion. Remember that dude from Texas A&M who was thinking about following Coach Gillispie? We all learned then that the LOI is a binding contract to the school, not the coach at the school.

Ya gotta love this one!!!!! Billy the Kid pulls a Tricky Ricky on good ole Florida!! This is Big Blue Heaven! As far as Jai Lucas is concerned, well we could use a point guard.

Knew this one was coming, he should have paid attention to what happened to Rick Pitino, John Calliperi and Steve Spurrier. I always thought Donovan was an average coach with great players anyway and the pros will prove that. My guess, he’ll be coaching South Carolina in three years. Forget Jai Lucas, we need a height minimum on the team. I think we need to develop meeks into a point. That way you’d have both he and legion on the court after this year, plus he’s the teams best penetrator as it is. I think we should start Bradley, Meeks, Crawford, Patterson and Stevenson this year. Bring Legion and Jasper off the bench, that would be a solid top 7.

Matt Jones at KSR informed us that our current UK Coaching Staff would warmly welcome Jai if he got out of his NLOI.

I really don’t connect with you guys with spreading this hate for Jai. He made a decision at that time that was best for him. It doesn’t bother me that he picked Florida; it wouldn’t have bothered me if he picked Duke or Louisville or any of our other GRR GRR ARGH HATE THEM! rivals. He’s just a kid who decided on a school, and I felt he played his recruitment pretty well.

If anything, perhaps I should be a little more down on Stephon Pettigrew, since he clearly cried out “woe is me, poor good Kentucky recruit not recruited by UK!” too many times. But still, he was doing what he needed to do to get attention and get himself wanted somewhere.

Forget Lucas. Somebody needs to find out what Nick Calathes thinks about a potential coaching change at FL. Rather have Calathes than Lucas.

  9. 9 The Fake Gimel Martinez

Doesn’t Nick Calathes consider himself more of a SG than a PG? I think we got the 2-guard scorer position sown up in Legion.

I love Jasper as our point guard not only now, but for the next 3 years. A 6-6 point guard that pushes the ball up the court and hits the “cutter” that well as a freshmen…Only great things to come from him! So his shot isn’t there yet, so what?…with Crawford, Legion, Meeks & Patterson he doesn’t have to shoot much as long as he feeds them good looks and controls the ball and tempo of the game.
If Lucas comes here…somebody would end up transferring because there’s not enough playing time to go around to all of those guards.

    Mostest Biggest.

    But I’m laughing.

Fuck Jai Lucas he wanted to go to Florida over UK thats fine hes our enemy now he will be UK’s bitch for as long as he is at florida Even if he wanted to come to UK Billy should say fuck you you fuckin florida gator ill see you on the court in January when you come and get your ass handed to you in Rupp arena. We got all we need for next year better to save that scholarship for next year cause we got like 145 of the top 150 recruits next year wanting to come play at UK!

    Discuss? Okay:

I put forth that Billy Donovan is the superior coach to Billy Gillispie, that Jai Lucas will be a good player and that Patrick Patterson secretly wishes he was attending the University of Florida. I also nominate B. Donovan not for d-baggery of any kind, but rather basketball sainthood. He could be “Saint Kid.”

I also put forth that Ramel Bradley is a ball hog, that Randolph Morris was the only good player on the ‘07 ‘Cats, that Jodie Meeks is actually kinda studly IF YOU HAVE TO PICK ONE and that Bill Keightly’s farts smell like whiskey.

    The floor is open.

  14. 14 BigBlueDave

Good thing Donovan returned to your gators so you don’t have to get rid of those knee pads with B.D. engraved on them….
Billy D is a flash in the pan Nat’l Championship winner. He will never win another one. He had one class of players that would have won it all no matter who they were playing for. Only a matter of time before he’s back to getting knocked out in the first round of the tournament to teams like Creighton, again.
Billy G. is the man in the SEC now, not Billy D. GO CATS!

  15. 15 Gatorpilot

    BigBlueDave:

Your application is denied on all fronts. Billy D. has been and is the man in the SEC, not Billy G. Go Gators!

  16. 16 BigBlueDave

Shine those knee pads up real nice…don’t you have a 5:00 appointment with Billy D?
Billy D has only been the man in the SEC for 2 years. That reign is over! Can’t wait to whip the GAYtors this year!
    GO CATS!!!

Gatorpilot, don’t think that the last two years indicates the future. Two points do not a trend make.

Take a look at the last program to win back-to-back championships. Duke won in 1991-1992, but followed that with a loss in the second round in 1993, did not make the field in 1995, and lost in the first round in 1996. They made the finals in 1994, certainly nothing to sneeze at, but the wins in 91-92 didn’t guarantee anything for the following years.

Duke’s success since 1996 is more indicative of the parity in college basketball, particularly among the traditional powers. Since 1996 they won one championship (2001), played for one (1999), and made a Final Four (2004). A very good record. But during that time they also ended their run in the Elite 8 once (1998), the Sweet 16 five tmes (2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006), lost in the second round once (1997), and in the first round once (2007). Again, this is the sort of record most schools would pray for, but it is not an overwhemling one for a school regularly considered by BB commentators to be a national power at the beginning of each season.

I guess the point is, it is hard to maintain excellence over time no matter how you have done in the past, and you can’t claim that any coach is going to be the “man” in his conference before the first ball is tossed up. Every year its a new team playing new teams.

Oh, and The Big Blue Nation is gonna be coming at’cha baby! Tie that Gator hat on real tight.

  18. 18 Gatorpilot

We’re ready for you, enorms. The hat is strapped on tight and we can’t wait to play! Go Gators!

  19. 19 Tubby Must Go

Billy D is a real Wuss. He knows he’ll get his butt kicked BIGTIME in the SEC this year, so he thought he’d go pro.

After he signed with the Magic, he woke up the next morning realizing that, like Pitino, he didn’t have enough in him to coach players who make more than he does.

Mark it down. He turned down UK because he wanted to go pro. Then, he realized he wasn’t ready for the big leagues and crawfished out of it.

Now, he’s STUCK at Fla. for what he KNOWS is going to be a pitiful season.

Deal with it all you GAY-tor fans!

  20. 20 Gatorpilot

Yeah… coming off of back-to-back nat’l titles… bringing in the #1 recruiting class in the country… and suffering with a 3.5 million dollar paycheck (more than our football coach makes, btw) must have been a real de-motivator for Donovan! Especially bringing in his backups for the best team in college basketball the last two years running. Yeah, so what if they practiced and played with the best of the best? They’re not any good… so you wish.

No, TMG, Donovan — and the Gators — are back to stay. The hating means one thing: we’re good! Nobody likes you when you dominate. Therefore, we Gators love the hate! Bring it on! We drink your delicious envy-filled tears like sweet, sweet wine.

Now how soon will it be till we can jam some hoops? Seems like forever.
