The Big Blue Nation did not take Stepphon Pettigrew’s deadline demand (comment?) very well. Cats Pause posters have expressed pretty much unanimously that it’s time for Stepphon to move on because of his attitude. I believe the general sentiment is “Who is this kid to be demanding an answer from us? Doesn’t he know this is “Kentucky basketball”, and he’ll get an answer when Billy Clyde is ready. ”
On the way home from work I listen to The Sports Huddle with Chris Cross. What? It’s the only sports talk show on when I drive home from work. Plus my wife likes listening to it now as well. I don’t have to answer to you. Anyway, one of his questions of the day was asking what people thought about the demand. All the callers I heard along with Cross and Cameron thought Pettigrew was being a bratty kid and one caller compared him to Rashaad Carruth. Ouch. The problem with that is that up until now Pettigrew was a
“Kentucky kid…..without an attitude…..with the ability to score…..and the desire to be a Cat.“
One way or another Stepphon will come out of this with a full ride scholarship to college. Which college that is remains to be seen. Not a bad ending for him either way.

I feel sorry for him now. And if you seen him play TWICE, then he must have had two off games. And they were probably the only ones. I’ve seen him play the last 2 years and OOHHH HIS TEAM ISN’T AWESOMELY BAD…does that mean he is? NO. Know why? He scored nearly all their points. We beat them once, but he is still amazing. Everyone needs to get off his back. He has the right to give deadlines because this is in the best interest of his future…I dont think he cares were he plays he just wants to play. Everyone loved him until this happened and now there is the biggest bandwagon in the world against him. His team would have probably averaged 35 pts a game this season without him. Instead….can anyone find for me what they DID average?
Nevermind. Since he averaged nearly 34 points a game, I’m sure the team averaged somewhere in the late 40s to early 50s

The sports huddle could be the worst radio program in the history of the world. Cross and Cameron’s preparation for the show only involves reading the Herald Leader’s headlines.
We (Lexington area fans) need to push for a local station to pick up the boys from Kentucky Sports Radio (Sports Mob?). Which would you rather hear? Chris Cross talking about how fantastic his swing set is or commentary on basketball and football recruiting, players and coaches being interviewed, inside analysis of upcoming games, etc.?
I read the HL everyday (despite their lack of sports info), so I don’t want to listen to some yankee read it to me on the way home from work!

If you haven’t listened to that interview yet go do it, it’s worth it. Even for me, who for some reason wanted to hate Matt’s radio show before I ever heard it, it’s entertaining.
You are right, most of their “talking points” do come from the H-L. I can’t say that I don’t get any enjoyment out of the show though, sometimes the questions they ask are interesting but nonetheless it is the only drive time sports show on in Lexington.
